State 1099 Electronic Filing

State 1099 E-File

This page is dedicated to business 1099 filers who are also required to report 1099 returns to one or more states in addition to reporting to the federal government.

The electronic filing engine available inside our W2 Mate® software gives users the ability to e-File with both states that participate in the IRS CF/SF Program (fed forwards 1099 info to the state) and most states that require 1099 forms be reported directly to them. 1099 payers and filers who are allowed to use paper forms are also supported by our W2 Mate® software. Form 1099-NEC is not part of the (CF/SF), so it needs to be reported directly with the state.

State 1099 Rules

Please note that most states that require direct e-Filing with them accept submissions in the federal format as defined by publication 1220 as long as the submission includes state-related fields. Our W2 Mate® software fully complies with IRS publication 1220.

Currently our software supports the following forms for federal and state reporting purposes: 1099-NEC (Nonemployee Compensation), 1099-A (Acquisition or Abandonment of Secured Property), 1099-B (Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions), 1099-C (Cancellation of Debt), 1099-DIV (Dividends and Distributions), 1099-INT (Interest Income), 1099-K (Merchant Card and Third Party Network Payments), 1099-MISC (Miscellaneous Income), 1099-OID (Original Issue Discount), 1099-PATR (Taxable Distributions Received From Cooperatives), 1099-R (Distributions from Pensions, Annuities, Retirement or Profit-Sharing Plans, IRAs, Insurance Contracts, etc.) and 1099-S (Proceeds from Real Estate Transactions).
