  • File the following forms with the state of Mississippi: 1099-MISC / 1099-NEC and 1099-R.
  • Filing due dates: File the state copy of form 1099 with the Mississippi taxation agency by March 31, 2021.
  • Reporting threshold: If you file 25 or more 1099 forms with Mississippi you must file electronically.
  • When filing federal copies of forms 1099 with the IRS from the state of Mississippi the mailing address is: Department of the Treasury , Internal Revenue Service Center Austin, TX 73319.
  • When filing state copies of forms 1099 with Mississippi department of revenue, the agency contact information is: Mississippi Department of Revenue, Withholding Division, P. O. Box 1033, Jackson MS 39215.
  • Compliance rules: To submit 1099 files electronically with the MS Department of Revenue, register for the Mississippi's Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) at www.dor.ms.gov. MS follows the IRS 1099 E-File format as defined by Publication 1220. When creating the 1099 submission, make sure the file extension is .TXT and format of the file is text. Failure to comply with the Mississippi 1099 rules may result in a minimum penalty of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).

Important Note (for both paper and electronic filers): There is a new form called 1099-NEC that is used to report None-employee compensation (instead of Box 7 on form 1099-MISC). The IRS does not forward 1099-NEC forms to the state, you need to file directly with the Mississippi DOR.
