  • File the following forms with the state of New Jersey: 1098, 1098-T, 1099-A, 1099-B, 1099-C, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-MISC / 1099-NEC, 1099-OID,1099-PATR, 1099-R and 1099-S.
  • Filing due dates: File the state copy of form 1099 with the New Jersey taxation agency by February 28, 2021 (January 31 in some cases).
  • Reporting threshold: If you file 250 or more 1099 forms with New Jersey you must file electronically.
  • When filing federal copies of forms 1099 with the IRS from the state of New Jersey the mailing address is: Department of the Treasury , Internal Revenue Service Center Austin, TX 73323.
  • When filing state copies of forms 1099 with New Jersey department of revenue, the agency contact information is: Division of Taxation, Revenue Processing Center, PO Box 333, Trenton, NJ 08646-0333.
  • Compliance rules: Generally, the NJ Division of Taxation's 1099 E-File reporting specifications conform to those established by the IRS. 1099 forms must be filed with the New Jersey state by all payers of interest and dividends, lessees or mortgagors of real or personal property and all other payers of who are required to file Federal Form 1099, when the amount paid or credited is $1,000 or more in a calendar year or if any New Jersey income tax was withheld from the payment.

Important Note (for both paper and electronic filers): There is a new form called 1099-NEC that is used to report None-employee compensation (instead of Box 7 on form 1099-MISC). The IRS does not forward 1099-NEC forms to the state, you need to file directly with the New Jersey DOR.
